چکیده

International thermal comfort standards are applicable for the design and operation of either mechanically cooled or naturally buildings limited guidance is given mixed-mode buildings. In this study, a control framework was defined based on adaptive model PMV-PPD method. The proposed tested using simulation-based analysis central module an office building. results were compared with objective to characterize how optimally, regarding both energy use comfort. Five locations considered: Copenhagen - DK, Edinburgh UK, Palermo IT, Tokyo JPN, Zurich CH. strategy had primary between 12 51 % lower than case. context, upper limit zone as cooling set point rather PMV-based showed nearly 20 more savings fewer switchovers modes. Night led operative temperatures modes well additional 10 only in Palermo. show that building operated criteria can have large reduction without compromising indoor air quality,

OPTIMAL SLIDING MODE CONTROL FOR SEISMIC CONTROL OF BUILDINGS EQUIPPED WITH ATMD

Active tuned mass damper (ATMD) systems have attracted the considerable attention of researchers for protecting buildings subjected to earthquake loading. This paper presentes the development of an optimal sliding mode control (OSMC) system for a building equipped with ATMD. In the OSMC technique, a linear sliding surface is used with the slope of this surface designed such that a given (or des...

Occupant Satisfaction in Mixed-Mode Buildings

Mixed-mode” refers to a hybrid approach to space conditioning that uses a combination of natural ventilation from operable windows (either manually or automatically controlled), and mechanical systems that provide air distribution and some form of cooling (air-conditioning, radiant cooling, etc.). By utilizing mechanical cooling only when and where it is necessary to supplement the natural vent...

Classification Tree Analysis of Stochastic Optimal Control Sequences for Mixed-mode Buildings

In an attempt to increase energy efficiency in high-performance mixed-mode buildings, a control optimization is conducted, yielding a sequence of best-case energy saving and comfort preserving window opening schedules. The optimal sequence and a set of corresponding predictors are used in a classification tree analysis to glean simple control logic from the optimal solution that can be embedded...
